DUBAI: Dubai Basketball secured a commanding 107-91 victory over European powerhouse Bayern Munich in Germany on Thursday night, extending their winning streak in the seventh round of the EuroLeague Regular Season. This win improves their season record to 5-2, marking their third consecutive victory.
The team got off to a flying start, anchored by the outstanding Mfiondu Kabengele. The Canadian center quickly scored in double figures, playing a pivotal role in Dubai’s eventual triumph. Throughout the opening quarter, Bayern Munich struggled to cope with Dubai’s athleticism and dynamic play, allowing Xavi Pascual’s side to build a 15-point lead.
In the second quarter, Dubai maintained their momentum. Elie Okobo was a major contributor on the scoreboard and led in assists, while Jaron Blossomgame proved vital on both ends of the court. Dubai’s relentless dominance saw them take a 27-point lead into halftime.
Bayern Munich mounted a comeback in the third quarter, driven by forward Oscar Da Silva and center Johannes Voigtmann. Although the Germans briefly closed the gap, Dubai regained control to hold a 15-point advantage heading into the final period.
Guards Okobo and McKinley Wright IV starred as the primary playmakers for Dubai, supported by stellar performances from Kabengele and Aaron Blossomgame. The final quarter saw Dubai maintain control, with the dynamic partnership of Okobo and Kabengele sealing the victory in the closing minutes.
Kabengele was named the game’s MVP, finishing with a dominant stat line of 24 points, seven rebounds, and two rebounds. Dubai’s head coach, Xavi Pascual, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“It was a solid game in both defense and offense,” Pascual said. “We were excellent in the first 20 minutes, almost perfect. Then we became a bit softer, and Bayern played better than us. In the end, we did a good job of controlling and managing the victory.”
Looking ahead, Dubai will return to action on Saturday in the ABA League, facing KK Bosna in Sarajevo.
