Echo & The Bunnymen have postponed a scheduled performance after a road traffic incident left frontman Ian McCulloch requiring medical attention.
The band were touring North America and were scheduled to play at Philadelphia’s Filmore on Sunday, June 7, but chose to delay the concert mere hours before its start.
Taking to their official social media channels, Echo & The Bunnymen announced that, while traveling from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia, Ian McCulloch’s vehicle was involved in a road traffic incident, necessitating medical treatment for the singer.

The band noted that the injuries were not considered serious, but emphasized that McCulloch was understandably shaken and would undergo additional medical evaluations as a precaution.
After careful consideration, the band explained that postponing the Philadelphia show was a difficult but necessary decision, as they do not wish to disappoint fans who had made arrangements.
They urged fans to retain their tickets while the situation is resolved and promised to issue a further update on the rescheduled performance as soon as possible.
Later this month, on June 30, they are set to headline a major homecoming concert at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium as special guests of My Chemical Romance.
Their recent itinerary follows a series of 2025 performances by the post‑punk pioneers, featuring appearances at Splendour Festival alongside Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Jake Bugg, Travis, and others, as well as a headline show at the Halifax Piece Hall.
Prior to that, Courtney Love announced late in 2024 that she was collaborating with Echo’s Will Sargent on her upcoming solo album, though she clarified it would not be in the style of PJ Harvey.
The band’s latest LP arrived in 2018, in the form of ‘The Stars, The Ocean and The Moon’.
