A bus travelling between the Red Sea towns of Dahab and Nuweiba in South Sinai was involved in a fatal crash early Wednesday, resulting in at least 16 fatalities and injuring 28 others, according to Egypt’s health ministry.
Emergency responders dispatched roughly 20 ambulances to the scene to provide first aid and transport the injured. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The area, a popular tourist destination, draws visitors from around the globe.
