The medical drama The Pitt and the comedy Hacks have emerged as the frontrunners for this year’s Emmy Awards, the premier honors in American television.
The Pitt leads the pack with a total of 25 nominations, while the final season of Hacks follows closely behind with 24 nods.
British talent is well-represented in this year’s lineup, most notably Matthew Rhys, who holds the distinction of being the only actor nominated for two lead acting categories (for Widow’s Bay and The Beast In Me). Other prominent British nominees include Riz Ahmed (Bait), Carey Mulligan (Beef), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), and Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat).
Despite the heavy hitters, the 78th Emmy Awards saw several surprises, including the absence of major hits Stranger Things and Euphoria from the outstanding drama shortlist.
