Hardcore band End It have moved to resolve the controversy surrounding their infamous fan confrontation by inviting another supporter wearing a banana costume onstage for a reconciliatory embrace.
The Baltimore-based hardcore group initially drew widespread attention after an incident at Lithuanian House in Toronto on June 5, where frontman Akil Godsey called out a fan dressed in a banana costume, accusing them of seeking attention and offering the setlist to anyone willing to remove the outfit, which led to crowd members destroying the costume.
The affected fan later spoke out on Instagram, describing themselves as an “unwilling participant” who was forcibly removed from the costume “at the direction of a band I paid to see.” After the band remained largely silent on the matter, Godsey responded by stating he had no intention to apologize for “doing hardcore things” as “a hardcore band,” adding, “You’ve obviously not been listening to the band, and I don’t know what the fuck you thought was going on over here.”

The band appeared to close the chapter on the saga during their set at Jera on Air festival in Ysselsteyn, Netherlands on June 27, where they brought a banana-costumed fan on stage and Godsey jokingly remarked that he never expected the original incident to generate a month of attention.
Godsey shared footage of the moment online, dubbing it “The great Banana Treaty of Ysselsteyn.”
The original “Banana Man” acknowledged the gesture online, responding simply with “Yea, nah,” while clarifying in comment sections that he had not profited from the situation, noting, “A few show tickets have come my way from it. But I’m really more interested in socialising over this than capitalising on it.”
End It, who formed in Baltimore in 2017, released their debut album ‘Wrong Side Of Heaven’ last August via Flatspot Records.
