England captain Harry Brook has encouraged his side to secure a comprehensive 4-0 series victory over India and reach the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings in the fifth and final match in Southampton.
England secured the five-match series with a game to spare after a dominant nine-wicket win in the fourth T20I, where Brook and Phil Salt delivered standout performances in a commanding chase.
Strategic Milestone Nears for England
Brook’s unbeaten 79 off 35 balls and Salt’s 59 off 42 deliveries contributed to a match-sealing 146-run partnership, allowing England to chase down the target with over six overs remaining.
The series clincher positions England to claim the No.1 ranking, pending the final match outcome.
Harry Brook Targeting Clean Sweep
Following the fourth-match victory, Brook emphasized England’s resolve to complete the series sweep while ascending to the top of the global T20I rankings.
“A 4-0 series win would be a remarkable achievement,” Brook stated. “Securing the top ranking is our primary objective. We’re focused on defeating India decisively again.” The captain highlighted the team’s awareness of the stakes in the concluding contest.
Execution Fuels England’s Success
While acknowledging India’s quality as reigning T20 World Cup champions, Brook credited England’s effective strategy execution for their commanding series performance.
“India remains a strong team, though their form in this series hasn’t matched recent seasons. Our execution has been key to securing these results,” he noted.
England will aim to finalize a 4-0 series triumph and claim the No.1 T20I ranking in the final match against India in Southampton on July 11, 2026.
