Ennis Responds to Crawford’s Post‑KO Remarks After Dominant Victory

Crawford swiftly commented on Ennis’s victory over Zander Zayas, prompting a reply from the newly crowned unified super‑welterweight world champion.

‘Boots’ delivered a captivating performance, stopping Zayas in the seventh round and demonstrating the talent that places him among the sport’s elite. Nevertheless, a brief exchange in the third round saw him momentarily stunned by Zayas, though Ennis later asserted that he remained uninjured.

During an appearance on the Ariel Helwani program, Ennis was questioned regarding Crawford’s reaction to his win, particularly the latter’s claim that he was ‘ten steps ahead’ in skill.

“I don’t care. None of that stuff bothers me.

Regarding a potential bout with Crawford, Ennis maintains a measured outlook.

“As of right now, he’s retired. What did he say? He said he’s enjoying his retirement, right? You could say [it’s a big money fight] but there’s other big fights out here for sure, though. I don’t consider him anything. I don’t even care. I don’t pay him, or none of these people, no mind.”

Crawford has also commended Ennis and expressed confidence in his future, while cautioning that upcoming opponents such as Sebastian Fundora and Vergil Ortiz — prominent super‑welterweights he is pursuing — will present far greater challenges than Zayas.

Ennis has identified Fundora — who stands 6 feet 5½ inches tall — as his ideal next opponent, aiming to capture the WBC title to complement the WBA and WBO belts he already holds from Zayas.
