Former England skipper Ben Stokes has signed with Adelaide Strikers for the 2026-27 Big Bash League season.
The 35-year-old announced his surprise retirement from international cricket in June, making the declaration during the third and final Test of a 2-1 home series loss to New Zealand.
He represented England in 122 Tests, 114 One Day Internationals, and 43 T20 Internationals.
He delivered a standout performance with a score of 84 in the final against New Zealand, contributing to England’s dramatic first-ever World Cup victory in 2019.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Adelaide Strikers for BBL 16,” said Stokes.
“I have always enjoyed playing in Australia, and when the opportunity arose to join the Strikers, it was one I could not pass up.”

Adelaide confirmed that Stokes, who previously had a brief stint with fellow BBL side Melbourne Renegades in 2015, would be available for the entirety of the BBL 16 campaign, which begins in December.
“Ben is one of the greatest all-rounders the game has ever seen, a proven match-winner, and a competitor who thrives under pressure,” said Adelaide Strikers head coach Tim Paine, whose side begin their BBL season against Sydney Thunder on December 16.
“We are thrilled to have a player of his caliber join our squad and cannot wait to see him put on a show in BBL 16.”
