Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea’s signing of Maxence Lacroix is in its final stages, with Crystal Palace negotiations now in their closing phases.
The French centre-back has risen to the top of Chelsea’s defensive targets, with both clubs working intensively to reach a final agreement.
Romano’s Update on the Maxence Lacroix Transfer
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano provided a detailed breakdown of the negotiations on his YouTube channel, confirming that the deal is nearing completion.
Personal terms between Chelsea and Lacroix have already been fully agreed, with the 26-year-old defender reportedly keen to make the move across London.
“Yesterday, I told you negotiations were underway and progressing, and now the deal is really at the final stages,” Romano reported.
“Maxence Lacroix is one step away from becoming a new Chelsea player.”
Romano said that discussions between the two clubs have continued following a key meeting in New York, with both sides now focused on finalising the remaining details of the transfer.
Crystal Palace and Chelsea Finalising Agreement
According to journalist Alex Crook, Palace chairman Steve Parish is leading the negotiations, with the overall financial package expected to exceed £55 million.
As reported by Crook, Chelsea have offered the opportunity to sign several players, including Axel Disasi.

However, Romano stressed that a swap deal involving Disasi is currently unlikely.
While Crystal Palace enquired about Disasi, the French defender is reportedly not interested in joining the Eagles and is weighing up other options.
“My understanding, again, is that Disasi is not part of the deal at this stage,” Romano stated.
Chelsea Approaching Another Major Signing
With personal terms fully settled and ownership groups in active discussion, Lacroix is set to become Chelsea’s next major defensive signing after Morgan Rogers.
Chelsea’s leadership is eager to wrap up negotiations swiftly, with Romano stating that an official agreement could be reached imminently.
As both London clubs iron out the remaining structural details, Lacroix stands on the verge of completing his transfer to Stamford Bridge.
