Felix Rosenqvist, winner of the 110th Indianapolis 500 on May 24, will be celebrated as a conquering hero in his hometown of Värnamo, Sweden on Saturday, December 5. The town will host a public celebration honoring his victory in the world’s premier race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

His win is historic, having defeated Team Penske’s David Malukas by just 0.0233 seconds—the closest finish in Indianapolis 500 history. Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Honda edged past Malukas’ No. 12 Team Verizon Chevrolet a fraction of a second before crossing the finish line.

Local residents, motorsport fans, and visitors are invited to join the city in celebrating Rosenqvist’s historic Indy 500 win. The event will be held in central Värnamo, with Rosenqvist serving as guest of honor.
“Celebrating an Indy 500 victory in my hometown will be an unforgettable way to cap off the best year of my life,” Rosenqvist said. “Sharing this moment with everyone in Värnamo, where my dream began, will feel completely surreal—a true pinch‑me moment.”
“It is amazing to think we can all experience and share this together,” he added. “I’m really looking forward to seeing friends, family, and everyone else in Värnamo this December.”
Details Of Värnamo’s Celebration For Felix Rosenqvist
A motorsport‑themed public celebration will feature stage tributes, interviews, live music, and related activities, aiming to create a warm and memorable experience for both dedicated racing fans and the broader public.
“Felix Rosenqvist’s achievement is an outstanding accomplishment that has sparked tremendous pride and joy throughout Värnamo,” said Staffan Svensson, Project Manager and Destination Development Officer at Värnamo Municipality. “We want to give the people of Värnamo and the motorsport community a chance to celebrate him together, while highlighting the strong sense of community and local pride that defines our town.”
Representatives from IndyCar will participate in the celebration. Further news and highlights will be announced as the event approaches.
“IndyCar’s involvement adds a unique dimension to the celebration,” Svensson said. “We are proud to welcome them to Värnamo and offer the public a rare opportunity to experience the international motorsport scene up close. We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.”
Sweden’s Influence On IndyCar
The event is being organized jointly by Värnamo Näringsliv, Värnamo City, and Värnamo Municipality.
“This partnership reflects the strong community spirit that defines Värnamo,” said Anki Hansson of Värnamo Näringsliv. “Together we aim to create a public celebration that honors Felix while also welcoming visitors to our town.”
IndyCar is broadcast in Sweden via Viaplay. Two Swedish drivers compete in the NTT IndyCar Series, including Marcus Ericsson of Andretti Global, who won the Indianapolis 500 in 2022 while driving for Chip Ganassi Racing and was honored in Sweden that same year.
Just four years later, it is Felix Rosenqvist’s turn to be celebrated in his hometown of Värnamo, Sweden as an Indy 500 champion.
