Belgian football fans criticised FIFA’s decision to overturn the suspension of United States striker Folarin Balogun ahead of Belgium’s World Cup round‑of‑16 clash with the USA.
The decision followed reported intervention by US President Donald Trump.
Speaking in Brussels, several supporters questioned the fairness of the ruling, arguing that a red card should have uniform consequences for all teams.
Some expressed concerns that the reversal could undermine confidence in officiating, while others labelled the outcome “not normal” and insisted that “a red card is a red card”.
