Food assistance demand in Israel has climbed 32% ahead of the Tishrei holidays, underscoring worsening economic strain on families facing poverty and food insecurity.

In response, Latet is launching its yearly holiday aid initiative alongside major Israeli corporations, philanthropic groups, staff, and volunteers.

The effort encompasses food and monetary contributions, package‑packing events, public and corporate fundraising, and partnerships via online and digital channels.

Over three decades, Latet has supported roughly 250,000 impoverished and food‑insecure families, delivering aid worth about NIS 2.25 billion.

Companies join food package campaign

A central component of the campaign is the “Donors Pack” project, which organizes packing events at participating companies’ offices nationwide and at Latet’s logistics hub in Beit Shemesh.

Employees from the partner companies are assisting in packing thousands of food parcels for distribution to families in need, while the firms also contribute funds and resources to support the baskets.

This year’s principal partners are Osem‑Nestlé, Strauss Group, Clal Insurance and Finance, ICL, Bank Yahav, Harel Insurance, Shastovitz, and additional firms involved in packing and volunteering.

Simultaneously, other businesses are leveraging their online platforms and digital channels to solicit public donations through partnerships with Shufersal, Bit, Wolt, and similar entities.

Individuals may also contribute directly to purchase food parcels for families facing hardship.

In addition to corporate and public donations, the campaign receives backing from philanthropic foundations that fund the effort and broaden its reach.

Among these supporters, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews offers substantial aid for families during the holiday, together with CBN, the Azrieli Foundation, and other partners who enable Latet to assist vulnerable populations nationwide.

More than 30,000 food packages to be distributed

As part of the holiday initiative, Latet anticipates preparing and distributing over 30,000 food parcels to families and elderly Israelis aided via its partner‑organization network nationwide.

“Our capacity to assist tens of thousands of families during the holiday season depends on a wide‑ranging collaboration among the public, business, and philanthropic sectors,” said Latet CEO Eran Weintraub.

“With assistance demand rising and more households finding it difficult to cover living expenses, each contribution, volunteer hour, and partnership carries real significance.”

“The current mobilization enables us to transform shared responsibility into action, ensuring that as many families as possible can observe the holiday with dignity,” Weintraub added.
