Ford unveils 2027 F-150 with hands-free towing, first-ever Carhartt edition

Greg Christensen, general manager of North America Trucks at Ford, discussed the leading innovations for the 2027 F‑150, notably hands‑free towing, enhanced powertrains, and the inaugural Carhartt edition.

Ford Motor Company has refreshed its top‑selling F‑150 for the 2027 model year, delivering hands‑free towing technology, a fresh exterior style, and the first‑ever F‑150 Carhartt collaboration.

Greg Christensen explained the redesign draws directly from real customer behavior, covering tasks such as loading equipment, daily commutes, and weekend adventures like boat and camper towing.

Among the marquee advancements is BlueCruise with Towing, a system that permits drivers to operate the vehicle hands‑free on more than 130 000 miles of compatible highways while pulling trailers up to 10 000 pounds.

Ford Motor Company powers this capability, highlighted in recent reporting.

The powertrain refresh introduces a new standard 3.0‑liter EcoBoost V6, returns the 5.0‑liter V8 exclusively to King Ranch and Platinum trims, and adds more budget‑friendly Tremor and Raptor configurators to widen off‑road reach.

“Our strategy centers on meeting customer priorities, especially towing, given that over three‑quarters of F‑150 owners tow regularly.”

Accompanying this evolution is a ground‑breaking Carhartt partnership, offering the first official F‑150 Carhartt package.

Built into the 4×4 XLT Crew Cab range, the package delivers distinctive styling cues, Carhartt‑inspired interior trim pieces, a custom spray‑in bed liner, and weather‑ready floor mats.

“Partnering with an iconic American heritage brand aligns perfectly with our commitment to workhorse reliability and style,” Christensen remarked.
