French lawmakers are slated to vote on July 21st regarding a proposed bill that would prohibit children under the age of 15 from accessing social media. Should the legislation pass, France will join Australia—which implemented the world’s first ban for minors under 16 on platforms such as TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, and YouTube last December—in an effort to combat rising concerns over the safety and mental well-being of young users.
