After more than a decade in medical aesthetics and more than 10,000 procedures, Nigerian skincare expert Abby Bakare recognised that professional treatment was only part of the solution. Helping clients maintain their results at home proved to be the greater challenge.
During years of practice at her Abuja clinic, Bakare treated clients with concerns ranging from acne and hyperpigmentation to uneven texture, premature ageing and other skin conditions. Her work drew on medical aesthetics and a continually evolving range of treatment options.
Despite visible improvements during consultations and procedures, maintaining those results often proved difficult once clients returned to their daily routines.
Some home-care products delivered disappointing results. Others were too harsh, while certain formulations did not adequately address the needs of melanin-rich or sensitive skin.
Without a consistent and appropriate skincare regimen, the benefits of professional treatment could be difficult to sustain.
Bakare saw more than a recurring product problem. She identified an opportunity to connect clinical expertise with practical everyday skincare.
That insight became the foundation of Flawless Skin by Abby, a skincare line designed to bring the standards of professional aesthetics into clients’ home routines.
Bakare’s path into aesthetics was anything but conventional. She initially built a career in accounting and finance, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Clark Atlanta University before working as a financial analyst at British Petroleum.
Her interest in the field began with her own search for effective solutions to personal skin concerns. That search gradually developed into extensive research, formal training and a commitment to medical aesthetics.
What started as a personal pursuit ultimately reshaped her career and became the basis for a business focused on helping people feel more confident about their skin.
Bakare is now the founder and CEO of Flawless Aesthetic Center in Abuja, a medical aesthetics practice that has treated thousands of clients. The centre is affiliated with the American Med Spa Association, or AmSpa, a US professional organisation for medical spa practitioners.
Its team comprises globally trained professionals. The practice reports having performed more than 10,000 aesthetic procedures, including nearly 200 advanced procedures each month.
Its clientele includes both men and women. Treatments are tailored to individual concerns and objectives, reflecting Bakare’s view that skin needs vary by person and life stage rather than gender.
The clinic also gave Bakare something beyond professional credentials: years of direct insight into the products, routines and support her clients needed between appointments.
Flawless Skin by Abby grew directly from those observations. Bakare repeatedly saw clients pleased with their professional treatments but unsure how to reproduce and maintain the results at home.
The distinction between in-clinic care and daily maintenance was crucial. Professional procedures could initiate a transformation, but consistent home care helped preserve it.
The brand summarises that lesson simply: home consistency determines long-term results.
Rather than treating professional and everyday skincare as separate worlds, Bakare wanted to create products that could support clients throughout the entire process.
The resulting collection combines clinical expertise, science-informed formulations and premium presentation. Its products target common concerns including acne, hyperpigmentation, sensitivity, hydration and visible signs of ageing.
The range is not restricted to one skin type, gender or beauty concern. It offers support for people establishing their first routine as well as those seeking more targeted solutions for acne, pigmentation, sensitivity, radiance and age-related changes.
Creating the line required translating lessons from the treatment room into products that consumers could use reliably outside the clinic.
To develop the formulations, Bakare worked with US cosmetic chemists and laboratories. The brand says the products are guided by dermatology-led principles and formulated with medically relevant active ingredients.
Flawless Skin by Abby was formally launched at a private dinner in Lagos in July 2025. The event brought together beauty professionals, influencers and members of the media to introduce an initial collection focused on four persistent concerns: acne, hyperpigmentation, early signs of ageing and sensitive skin.
Products in the launch range include the Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid Serum, Pure Retinol Complex, Brightening Complex, Brightening SPF 30 Moisturizer and BPO 5% Lotion. Dedicated collections address acne, hyperpigmentation, sensitive skin and anti-aging.
The wider lineup is organised around different levels of skincare experience and specific consumer needs. Routines such as Glow Start, Youth Start and Clear Start provide foundational options, while more advanced products allow customers to target particular concerns.
Some products may also be suitable for teenagers and younger users, provided their individual skin needs and the products’ intended uses are taken into account.
Formulations feature ingredients including salicylic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C, ferulic acid, retinol and botanical antioxidants. They are intended to target specific issues while helping to support the skin barrier.
That balance is central to Bakare’s approach.
Flawless Skin by Abby does not suggest that consumers need an ever-growing shelf of products. Instead, it presents skincare as an intentional and consistent practice built around products that serve a clear purpose.
“Flawless isn’t about perfection; it’s about confidence, care, and consistency,” Bakare says.
Entering a crowded beauty market with another skincare label would be challenging on its own. Bakare’s advantage is that the concept arose from years of working directly with the people the brand aims to serve.
Her clinical practice exposed her to skin concerns beyond the polished imagery often associated with beauty. It showed her what clients wanted, what professional treatments could achieve and, perhaps most importantly, what happened during the time between appointments.
That experience now informs a brand designed to occupy the space between professional treatments.
Flawless Skin by Abby describes itself as a bridge between clinical transformation and everyday maintenance, helping clients continue supporting their skin after leaving the treatment room.
The concept also arrives as African beauty entrepreneurs increasingly develop products around locally relevant needs while competing through formulation quality, expertise and customer experience.
For Bakare, the goal is not simply to add another Nigerian skincare label to the market. She aims to apply the knowledge gained from treating diverse skin concerns to create products better aligned with those needs.
The ambition extends beyond Nigeria. At the July 2025 launch, the brand said it wanted clinically informed, well-formulated skincare to reach everyday consumers “across Africa and beyond.”
For Bakare, the business ultimately extends beyond individual products.
Her work has long been connected to the relationship between skin and confidence. Central to her founder story is the belief that people who feel comfortable in their skin carry themselves differently.
That belief gives the company a purpose beyond product sales.
Skincare becomes more than a pursuit of a particular complexion or the correction of one concern. It becomes an act of consistency and self-care, encouraging people to understand their skin and approach maintenance more thoughtfully.
This message is particularly important in a market where discussions of beauty, ageing, pigmentation and skin tone are often complicated by unrealistic standards and products promising immediate results.
Bakare’s alternative is built around expertise, education and consistency.
Her clinic provided the foundation, while her patients supplied the insight. Flawless Skin by Abby represents the next expression of that experience.
Her ambition now extends beyond helping one client at a time.
She aims to make effective, sophisticated skincare accessible to more women while establishing a brand capable of bringing African skincare concerns into a broader global conversation.
After more than a decade of working directly with skin, Bakare is proving that the next stage of her career does not have to remain confined to the treatment room.
The knowledge gathered there can now accompany clients home, become part of their daily routines and shape the way more people care for their skin.
For Bakare, “flawless” may not mean perfection. It may mean the confidence that comes from understanding one’s skin, caring for it consistently and using products designed to support that journey.
