Al-Shabab, a Saudi Pro League club, has confirmed the acquisition of Ghana international Thomas Partey.

The former Arsenal midfielder, who made 167 appearances for the club between 2020 and 2025, became a free agent this summer after Villarreal chose not to extend his expiring contract.

Now 33 years old, he will face trial next year after pleading not guilty to seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault stemming from allegations by four women between 2020 and 2022.

During the recent World Cup, Partey was denied entry to Canada ahead of Ghana’s opening match against Panama due to ongoing criminal proceedings in the United Kingdom.

He initially misrepresented his arrest history to officials, but still featured in Ghana’s remaining three group‑stage matches, which ended in a last‑16 defeat to Colombia.

Al‑Shabab, whose squad includes former Burnley captain Josh Brownhill and ex‑Wolves winger Daniel Podence, finished 13th in the Saudi Pro League last season and lost their opening match of the current campaign.
