Goldberg Reflects: Triple H Is Ultimately a Respectable Figure

Goldberg, a WWE Hall of Famer, revealed that he and Triple H were unable to get along while they competed as rivals in WWE.

In an interview with Going Ringside on a local station, Goldberg explained that a prior confrontation occurred before his WWE debut, that he and Triple H shared the same agent, and that Triple H’s marriage to Vince McMahon’s daughter complicated matters.

Goldberg recalled that their rivalry was strained, noting that they were both represented by the same agent and had clashed before his WWE debut. He added that Triple H’s marriage to Vince McMahon’s daughter made the situation feel insurmountable, yet he believes business considerations ultimately prevailed, and he regards Triple H as a good person.

Goldberg also discussed his time with Meng (also known as Haku) during his WCW years, describing Meng as an idol and a major mentor, and praising both his in‑ring performance and character. When asked if working with Meng was intimidating, Goldberg replied that no one intimidates him, stating, “Meng never scared me; I simply greatly respected the man he is, both inside and outside the ring.”

Reflecting on his early career, Goldberg said he initially felt unwelcome as a former NFL player entering wrestling. He noted, “I was a professional football player trying to fit into a business that didn’t want me, feeling like I was taking someone else’s spot.” He likened the experience to “a football player walking into a frat party,” yet remained confident that he would succeed.

Goldberg identified Brock Lesnar as his toughest opponent, describing Lesnar as a mirror of himself and expressing enthusiasm about sharing the ring with him. He said, “The experience of two genuine powerhouses competing together thrilled me, because Lesnar could absorb any punishment I delivered.”

Since retiring from in‑ring competition, Goldberg has kept busy with several television projects, including a show featuring his son that he hopes will be picked up by Discovery, as well as a guest appearance on Shark Tank.
