Damon Albarn, a Chelsea F.C. fan, joked about playing at the north‑London rivals’ home venue during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. When Norton mentioned the “biggest ever gig” at the 62,850‑capacity stadium, Albarn replied with a playful euphemism, refusing to name Tottenham outright.
Gorillaz recently headlined Primavera Sound, where NME awarded their set a three‑and‑a‑half‑star review. The performance was introduced by Palestinian activist Aarab Barghouti, who spoke about his father’s imprisonment and used the platform to highlight hope.
Despite severe weather forcing cancellations from acts such as Massive Attack, Gorillaz delivered what critics described as a “brilliant” set.
Meanwhile, Albarn has explained why the planned Gorillaz Netflix film was abandoned and how the project inspired the track “Cracker Island.”
