Pre-release projections anticipated 120–130 thousand units sold, highlighting her momentum toward a milestone debut. This achievement follows her earlier success with The Secret of Us, which peaked at No. 2 in 2024 with 89,000 sales and introduced her first Hot 100 hit, “That’s So True.”
Reflecting on the creative process during a Bowery Ballroom performance, Abrams described her approach to the album as emerging from a period of reflection. “Being in your 20s is strange—it can feel both isolating and exciting. You reimagine your future all at once while adolescence still lingers,” she shared.
Produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, Daughter From Hell features collaborations with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Abrams’ close friend Audrey Hobert, and partner Paul Mescal, who co-wrote “Imaginary Friend.”
Expressing gratitude toward fans, Abrams posted on social media: “Your messages moved my heart. Knowing people are connecting with the record truly means everything.” She also released bonus tracks “Love Letter” and “Out of Nowhere” as digital downloads.
