Securing a FIFA World Cup victory immortalizes both players and their managers in history. Over nearly a century of the tournament, a limited roster of coaches has achieved this pinnacle achievement.

The journey began in 1930 when Uruguay’s Alberto Suppici led the host nation to victory at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo. Since then, the trophy has been claimed by coaches from Europe and South America, reflecting the continents that have produced every World Cup-winning nation.

A few names stand out for their repeated successes. Vittorio Pozzo remains the sole manager to win back-to-back World Cups, guiding Italy to glory in 1934 and 1938.

Mario Zagallo holds a rare distinction: winning the World Cup both as a player with Brazil in 1958 and 1962, then as head coach in 1970. Didier Deschamps replicated this feat with France, first as captain in 1998 and later as manager in 2018.

More recently, Lionel Scaloni joined this elite group, leading Argentina to their third title in 2022 behind Lionel Messi, marking the most recent World Cup champion before the 2026 tournament.
