Hockey Veteran Andrew Agozzino Announces Retirement After 14-Year Professional Career

Andrew Agozzino announced his retirement Tuesday in a post on his Instagram account, concluding a 14-year professional hockey career that spanned multiple leagues and teams.

The forward played 847 regular-season games in the American Hockey League, ranking 29th on the league’s all-time list. His career statistics include 284 goals (28th all-time), 378 assists (48th), and 662 total points (35th), with eight seasons of at least 20 goals. Agozzino was named to the AHL All-Star Classic in 2013 and 2019.

The undrafted native of Kleinburg, Ontario, began his professional career with a tryout for the Peoria Rivermen in 2010, followed by his rookie season with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL in 2012-13. He later signed his first NHL contract with the Colorado Avalanche and represented multiple teams in the AHL, including San Antonio, Chicago, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, San Diego, Belleville, San Jose, and Tucson, where he completed the season with 19 goals and 20 assists in 56 games.

In 53 regular-season games across the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche, Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators, San Jose Sharks, and Utah Grizzlies, Agozzino recorded three goals and nine assists.

Throughout his career, Agozzino was twice honored with the IOA/American Specialty Man of the Year award for his community engagement initiatives, winning the distinction with San Jose during the 2022-23 season and with Tucson in 2025-26.
