Despite increased visibility surrounding disability issues across Hong Kong, finding employment remains a significant challenge for many people with disabilities, according to advocate Faride Shroff. She warns that constrained corporate budgets and a difficult job market are complicating efforts to advance the next stage of inclusion.
Shroff, founder of the SENsational Foundation, stressed that employers who hire people with disabilities must also provide appropriate guidance, suitable workplace arrangements, and roles that align with individual strengths.
“Every person has got certain skills,” she said. “It is finding those skills and matching them to the right job.”
