The upcoming APEC finance ministers’ meeting in Hong Kong will concentrate on fiscal policies aimed at supporting livelihoods, financing digital infrastructure, promoting inclusive finance, and nurturing young financial talent, underscoring the city’s position as a leading international financial hub, according to the finance chief.

“These four priorities represent Hong Kong’s core strengths and areas where we can make a meaningful impact,” Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po wrote in his weekly blog on Sunday.

“Hosting the finance ministers’ meeting in Hong Kong demonstrates the central government’s strong backing for the city and reflects its status as a key international financial centre in the region.”

Approximately 500 participants, including finance ministers and senior officials from APEC’s 21 member economies, are expected to attend the annual gathering on October 20 and 21 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. This marks the first occasion Hong Kong will host the event.
