A humanoid robot developed by China’s Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics achieved a historic milestone by completing a 100m sprint faster than human athlete Usain Bolt. Tianzhuo, the robotic athlete, recorded a time of 9.39 seconds at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing.

This performance outpaced Bolt’s 2009 world record of 9.58 seconds, established during his Olympic career. The robot narrowly edged out another competitor, a model created by Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor, which reportedly achieved a test time of 9.32 seconds.

The Beijing event featured diverse competitions, including boxing, football, and practical tasks like laundry folding, showcasing advancements in both athletic and domestic robotics.
