Industry Award Recognizes Global Cinema Theaters

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is set to unveil its prestigious Marquee Theater List, a decision-making initiative that will honor the finest movie theaters worldwide. This inaugural list will recognize twenty-five exceptional cinemas across the United States and internationally, providing a benchmark for quality, atmosphere, and community impact. Not only will it celebrate iconic movie palaces, but it will also uplift theaters that deliver outstanding experiences through superior design, diverse programming, and inclusive programming.

The selection process expands eligibility beyond traditional boundaries, encompassing up to ten theaters operated by the same chain or owner. The criteria emphasize thoughtfully chosen attributes such as community engagement, high visual and audio presentation, diverse and accessible programming, historic significance, and optimal environmental conditions. By upgrading the Academy’s commitment to cinematic excellence, this list underscores the critical role theatres play in shaping the audience experience.
