Hezbollah reports that Iran has pledged to demand Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon as part of ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, according to statements from the group’s media office to Reuters on Tuesday.

The withdrawal would follow, rather than precede, continued negotiations between Tehran and Washington, which recently signed a memorandum of understanding to advance discussions.

“There will be no nuclear agreement between Iran and the United States unless Israeli forces withdraw from Lebanon,” Hezbollah stated in its communication with Reuters.

Iranian negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf emphasized to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri that Israeli troops must leave “occupied areas” in Lebanon, adding in a Telegram post: “The people of southern Lebanon must return to their homes.”
