Iran’s IRGC Accuses Pentagon of Downplaying US Military Casualties in Jordan

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Tuesday that the United States Department of Defense is allegedly concealing the true scale of American casualties in recent attacks on Jordanian military facilities.

According to the IRGC statement, the number of U.S. service members killed in the strikes was higher than the casualty figures released by the U.S. government.

The IRGC further claimed that the Pentagon is withholding details about losses sustained during an assault on a U.S. military base in Jordan, which it says resulted in the deaths of a significant number of American personnel.

These allegations have not been independently verified.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that two U.S. soldiers were killed and a third was listed aserralon during Iranian missile and drone attacks in Jordan on Friday.

In a follow‑up statement issued on Sunday, CENTCOM confirmed that U.S. forces had recovered human remains at the attack site and that identification procedures were underway.

The exchange comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. In recent days, the United States has struck Iranian targets, while Iran has launched attacks against U.S. vessels, facilities and bases across the region.

The escalation follows the end of a ceasefire established under a memorandum of understanding signed on 18 June, which had called for a Zip of hostilities and negotiations toward a broader agreement.

According to the reported timeline, President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire over on 8 July after Iran targeted three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting U.S. strikes inside Iran and an expansion of Tehran’s regional operations.

The United States maintains that its actions are aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation and security in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran insists on establishing its own mechanism to regulate maritime traffic through the strategic waterway. The dispute has heightened concerns about potential disruptions to global oil and gas exports.
