Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated Thursday that two oil tankers and a tugboat caught fire in separate incidents within the Strait of Hormuz after attempting to navigate unauthorized routes through the strategic waterway.

According to the IRGC, one tanker struck a mine while trying to cross a passage south of the strait. A second supertanker ignited while exiting the channel in the eastern section of the waterway. A tugboat that moved to assist the stricken supertanker also caught fire during the response effort.
