Newly Revised Headline: Istanbul’s Bilgi University Opens Amidst Reversal of Controversial Shutdown Plan
Following days of student protests and a subsequent police crackdown, Istanbul’s Bilgi University resumed operations after the government reversed its initial decision to close the institution mid-year. The closure plan had sparked significant controversy, with students vehemently opposing it.
The university’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced the reversal of the shutdown decision, much to the relief of the student body. The students, who had been actively participating in protests against the closure, broke into celebrations upon hearing the news.
