The police team on Law & Order is experiencing significant staff changes. Reid Scott, who portrayed Senior Detective Vincent Riley for three seasons, is departing the series. His exit, described as amicable, stems from the demands of a cross-country commute and family separation while filming in New York. He will film remaining episodes to conclude Riley’s storyline before James Badge Dale assumes the role.
Det. Riley’s character arc will receive a proper closure as Scott finishes his contracted episodes. The transition timeline remains unspecified. Dale, known for roles in 24, The Pacific, and 13 Hours, joins the returning cast including Tony Goldwyn, Hugh Dancy, Maura Tierney, and Odelya Halevi. Season 26 will debut on October 8, following Law & Order: SVU.
Dale’s career spans television and film, with notable appearances in Hightown, Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, and Interference. He is also attached to The Guide and continues to be represented by CAA, MJ Management, and Michael Auerbach.
