On the first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne’s passing, his widow Sharon Osbourne revealed the heartfelt advice the music icon shared with her to commemorate his legacy.
During a BBC interview in Birmingham—where the city commemorated its inaugural Ozzy Day—Sharon spoke about honoring Ozzy’s memory. “As Ozzy would say, ‘When you want to remember me, just yank up the music really loud, as loud as you can get it, and just head bang,’” she shared.
She described Ozzy’s authenticity, noting, “He was genuine, so genuine and funny.” His sharp wit, which later charmed audiences on The Osbournes, was complemented by his exhilarating live performances. “We could have the worst arguments in the world, but we’d end up laughing because he’d say something so ridiculous,” Sharon recalled.
Looking ahead, Sharon expressed hope that Ozzy Day would remain a Birmingham tradition. “This is the home of metal,” she said. “It’s Ozzy’s home, it’s where he was born, what he loved, and [Ozzy Day] wouldn’t work anywhere else.”
Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at 76 a year prior, was also honored by his Black Sabbath bandmates. Bassist Geezer Butler posted a photo of Ozzy on his iconic bat throne on Instagram, writing, “One year ago today – hard to believe. I am so glad we were able to do the final show, back in our hometown, just a couple of weeks before Ozzy left us. Gone in body, but his legend lives on. Such incredible memories. Ozzy forever!”
