England have announced a 17-player squad to face the reigning T20 World Cup champions, India, in a five-match T20I series starting July 1 in Chester-le-Street. The squad features key figures including Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Jofra Archer, and Harry Brook.
The standout inclusion is uncapped all-rounder James Coles, who has earned his first senior call-up. He joins a roster that includes Rehan Ahmed, Sonny Baker, Jordan Cox, and Saqib Mahmood, as well as Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue, and Luke Wood.
England noted that Jordan Cox, Sonny Baker, and Saqib Mahmood represent the primary adjustments to the squad used during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Meanwhile, Brydon Carse and Jamie Overton are unavailable for the series due to ongoing injuries.
England Men’s national selector Marcus North commented on the new addition: “James Coles is an exciting addition and has earned his place following his performances with the England Lions and in T20 competitions here and abroad during the past 12 months.”
