The club has explored numerous options to accommodate the matches, including attempts to reshuffle league fixtures and South Challenge Cup ties, travelling to Tayport during the week, playing on a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon, and recently proposing to stage the Communities Cup tie either just before or after an upcoming Lowland League Cup match.
Additionally, Johnstone Burgh offered to waive its share of gate revenue to help offset any inconvenience caused by the fixture rearrangement.
Despite exhausting every possible avenue, the club has been unable to find a solution that would allow the games to be played outside the traditional Saturday afternoon slot.
Burgh, currently eighth in the new Lowland League West after securing promotion from the West of Scotland League Premier Division, would be considered favourites for both ties if they could field their strongest squad.
The side claimed the Scottish Communities Cup two seasons ago, when the competition was still known as the Scottish Junior Cup.
Meanwhile, Dunipace occupy the second‑bottom spot in the new Lowland League East, while Tayport lies sixth in the lower tier, the Midlands Premier League.
All three clubs have already had matches postponed due to their advancement to the second round of the Scottish Cup.
Tayport eventually fell to Stranraer, and Dunipace suffered a heavy defeat to Largs Thistle on Saturday, while Johnstone Burgh’s home tie against Highland League side Formartine United was postponed and rescheduled for this Saturday.
“We are extremely disappointed that, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find a reasonable solution that would allow us to compete in both games with our strongest available squad,” the club added.
We would like to thank Tayport and the other clubs we have spoken to for considering the options we have proposed and for understanding that many clubs wish to keep the traditional Saturday afternoon kick‑off times.
We want to reassure our supporters that every avenue has been explored and every effort has been made to find a workable solution.
