Kansa Erects Arsenal’s Defensive Fortress Amid Saliba’s Absence

Konsa stands out as a formidable presence, his speed on the pitch and aggressive tackling propelling him to the admiration of fans.

Arteta has lauded the centre-back’s rapid adaptation, describing his integration into the Arsenal squad as “unbelievable” from his opening day.

“He’s gone to a huge club like Arsenal with no pre-season when Saliba is here, with other players that are already here,” Arteta added of Konsa’s start.

His natural integration and exceptional performance have fostered a strong chemistry and strategic partnership with Gabriel, a combination Arteta deems incredibly rare to achieve.

The statistical data corroborate Arteta’s assessment of the player’s impact.

Individually, Konsa secured the highest pass completion rate in the Premier League last season and maintains a leading position this campaign with a 96% success rate across 324 passes.

He also led the league in success rate among outfielders to contest twenty or more ground duels last season, currently sitting 12th in the standings for this metric in the 2026-27 campaign.

Arsenal have preserved a clean sheet in five of their eight matches, a record matched by no other Premier League side this season.

Joining just hours before the season opener against Coventry, Konsa has featured in six out of those games, stepping in for his debut in the second encounter with Villa after Mosquera suffered an injury.

“Both Saliba and Gabriel were placed among the Ballon d’Or nominees as the premier defenders in global football,” stated former Arsenal defender Martin Keown.

Konsa has not been overshadowed by any of his teammates.

Continuing his strong form, Konsa delivered a standout showdown by netting Arsenal’s first goal in their victory over Everton on Saturday.

Konsa reflected on his extensive experience at the stadium, acknowledging the difficult environment of facing Arsenal and stating that Arsenal’s robust start to the season is not unexpected.

“Arsenal are determined to secure the title, emphasizing the necessity of consistent victories to achieve their championship ambitions here at home ground.”
