Lancashire and England bowler Kate Cross has announced that she will step away from professional cricket at the conclusion of the current season.
The 34‑year‑old, who in 2026 became the first woman to be accepted into Lancashire’s Academy, enjoyed a distinguished career after making her senior county debut for Lancashire in 2005 at just 13 years old.
Over a 21‑year tenure with Lancashire, Cross claimed 239 wickets across all formats for both the professional and amateur sides of the Red Rose.
She later earned her England cap in October 2013, going on to collect 102 international appearances across all three formats and taking 140 wickets.
“Retiring hasn’t been an easy decision, but it feels like the right time,” Cross said.
“I’m excited to see what lies ahead and hope to remain involved in the sport I love.”
“Before that, however, I am looking forward to finishing the season with Lancashire as we push for more silverware.”
