Kentucky and Louisville opened their season with a matchup that marked the third game for both squads. Played on Veterans Day, November 11th, the contest represented the earliest-ever meeting between the two programs on the hardwood.
This year, the rivalry shifts to a more traditional Saturday slot, December 12th, with a unique twist: the game will be broadcast on ABC. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 ET at Rupp Arena.
Kentucky last appeared on ABC in a road contest at Florida last year, where the Gators edged the Cats 92-83 in a highly competitive affair. The broadcast represents a rare national spotlight for the Wildcats, not frequently seen in their history.
The Wildcats and Cardinals have split their last two meetings, with each team winning on their home floors under first-year head coaches Mark Pope and Pat Kelsey. Kentucky holds the edge in the series’ latest chapter, having defeated Louisville 96-88 at Rupp Arena on December 14, 2024.
Both programs enter the season with high expectations. Kentucky checks in at No. 19 in Andy Katz’s Power 44, while Louisville sits at No. 14.
The national spotlight extends to the women’s side, where coach Kenny Brooks and the Lady Cards will face Texas on Sunday, January 10th, with tip-off set for 2:00 PM ET on CBS.
