The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation announced Tuesday that Kevin Feige, President and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Studios, will receive the organization’s highest honor: the Pioneer of the Year Award. Feige, the architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be recognized at a ceremony scheduled for September 30 at the Beverly Hilton.

The MCU stands as the most lucrative franchise in Hollywood history. Since launching with Iron Man in 2008, Feige has overseen the production of more than three dozen films that have collectively grossed over $32 billion worldwide. Eleven of those titles have surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame each crossing the $2 billion mark. The franchise shows no signs of slowing, with two additional Avengers films slated for Christmas 2025 and 2027, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which debuts July 31.

“Kevin Feige is a dynamic producer and executive whose creativity and vision entertains and inspires moviegoers everywhere,” said Kyle Davies, President of Distribution at Bleecker Street Media and Co-Chairman of the Pioneers Assistance Fund Committee.

A tradition spanning more than 75 years, the Pioneer of the Year Award honors esteemed members of the motion picture industry whose leadership, community service, and philanthropic commitment are exceptional, according to the WRMPPF. Actor and entrepreneur Kate Hudson received the award in 2024.

Previous recipients form a roster of industry titans, including Greta Gerwig, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Tom Cruise, Donna Langley, Kathleen Kennedy, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Sherry Lansing, Alan Horn, Jack Valenti, and Cecil B. DeMille.
