Leeds Negotiate with Manchester City for Goalkeeper James Trafford

Leeds United are currently in negotiations with Manchester City regarding a potential transfer for goalkeeper James Trafford.

The England international has emerged as Leeds’ top priority in goal, with the club seeking to bolster their options between the posts.

While both Newcastle United and Aston Villa have expressed interest in Trafford during this summer’s transfer window, Leeds are reportedly the most advanced in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Trafford made 17 appearances for Manchester City in the 2025/26 season following his return to the Etihad Stadium from Burnley, where he recorded eight clean sheets during that period.

He subsequently joined the England squad for the 2026 World Cup but did not feature in any matches under manager Thomas Tuchel.

Leeds have already experienced significant changes in their goalkeeping department this summer, with Karl Darlow departing for Manchester United and Illan Meslier joining Arsenal, both on free transfers.
