Los Angeles Angels Activate Mike Trout for Upcoming All-Star Game

The Los Angeles Angels have reinstated All-Star center fielder Mike Trout from the 10‑day injured list ahead of Wednesday’s away matchup with the Texas Rangers.

Trout was placed on the injured list after suffering a right hamstring strain on June 17 during a game versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In Wednesday’s lineup, Trout will bat second and will serve as the designated hitter.

His activation makes him eligible for the All‑Star Game scheduled for July 14 in Philadelphia, a event that carries special significance as the city lies just 45 miles from his New Jersey hometown of Millville.

A 12‑time All‑Star, Trout has not appeared in the Midsummer Classic since 2019 because of recurring injuries. In seven All‑Star‑related appearances, he is 7‑for‑17 (.412) with two home runs, two doubles and four RBIs, and he remains the sole player to earn back‑to‑back All‑Star MVP honors (2014‑15).

Regarding the Diamondbacks matchup, Trout revealed that the injury occurred while he was rounding the bases.

Before the injury, Trout had appeared in 74 of 75 games this season and was batting .234 with 17 home runs and 36 RBIs.

A three‑time American League MVP, Trout has compiled 421 home runs, 1,054 RBIs and 221 stolen bases over 1,722 games in 16 seasons with the Angels, posting a career slash line of .291/.406/.566.

To make room for Trout, the Angels placed infielder Donovan Walton on waivers; the 32‑year‑old had been batting .319 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 32 appearances.

Across parts of seven seasons with four clubs since 2019, Walton has logged 104 games, batting .218 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs.
