KARACHI: Police have successfully apprehended the primary suspect in the recent killing of a newly married couple in the Malir area, the Korangi police spokesperson announced on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday near the RCD ground in Saudabad, where assailants opened fire on the couple’s vehicle. The victims were returning from court, where the wife had formally recorded a statement confirming she had married of her own volition and had submitted her Nikahnama.
Following strict directives from the Korangi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), the Saudabad police utilized advanced technical intelligence and investigative methods to track down and arrest the lead suspect. According to the official police statement, the individual has been identified as Sajid, son of Aslam, who reportedly confessed to the shooting during interrogation.
A formal criminal case was registered at the Saudabad police station following a complaint filed by the brother of the deceased husband.
