Colombian superstar Maluma made his highly anticipated return to the American Music Awards stage for the first time in six years, delivering an emotional performance of “Tu Recuerdo” at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night.
During his vibrant showcase, Maluma paid homage to his Medellín roots while celebrating the joy of music. The stage featured a full band, backup singers, and a mic stand adorned with the Colombian flag. Mid-performance, he stepped down from the stage for an energetic dance segment, delighting the live audience and global viewers as he moved through the crowd.
This performance coincides with Maluma’s recent musical comeback. Earlier this month, he released his seventh studio album, Crazy x Back, his first full-length project in three years. Speaking to Apple Music, Maluma described the album as therapeutic, stating, “It’s like I had the opportunity to reconnect with the child within.” The LP blends his signature Latin pop sound with traditional regional genres, featuring collaborations with Latin music luminaries including Arcángel, Grupo Frontera, Justin Quiles, Lenny Tavárez, Ryan Castro, Kany García, Beéle, NG, and Luny Tunes.
Maluma’s previous appearances at the AMAs include a memorable 2020 duet with Jennifer Lopez on “Pa’ Ti + Lonely,” which marked his award show debut. This year’s ceremony also featured performances from artists like Karol G, Katseye, Teddy Swims, and Sombr.
