Man Utd set for Fernandes contract talks

Manchester United are prepared to open talks with captain Bruno Fernandes over a new long-term contract.

The Portuguese playmaker enjoyed a phenomenal 2025/26 campaign with the Red Devils, registering nine goals and 21 assists in the Premier League.

He has maintained this outstanding form into the current season, most recently netting a hat-trick and providing an assist in a convincing 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town.

Having previously rejected multiple lucrative offers to move to the Saudi Pro League, Fernandes is now at the forefront of the club’s plans as United look to secure his long-term future.

Although his current contract expires in June of next year, the club holds an option to extend his stay for an additional 12 months.

Currently one of the club’s highest earners at £300,000 per week, a new contract could see his weekly wages rise to approximately £400,000.

While Fernandes was in no rush to extend his deal earlier this summer, negotiations are expected to accelerate as the transfer window draws to a close.
