A new survey released Wednesday by the University of Maryland, Baltimore County indicates that Maryland constituents are reluctant to become involved in the escalating national battle over electoral map redistricting.

Appearing on the November ballot is a constitutional amendment designed to relax state regulations regarding the drawing of congressional boundaries. Sponsored by Gov. Wes Moore and other Democratic officials, the measure would enable the Democratic supermajority in Annapolis to redraw House districts with greater ease, potentially removing the lone Republican currently representing the state in Congress. The effort aims to neutralize similar redistricting strategies employed by Republicans elsewhere, which are intended to support the GOP in the 2026 midterm elections.
