Kylian Mbappe continues to find the back of the net with composure for Real Madrid. Following his team’s 3-0 victory over Valencia at Mestalla on Saturday, the French striker has extended his tally to 13 LaLiga goals this season, positioning him closely behind a historic Cristiano Ronaldo record.
According to statistics from MisterChip, Mbappe has now scored in seven consecutive matches across all official competitions, a run that remains very much alive. This sustained form places him within striking distance of the Portuguese forward’s remarkable club career scoring milestones.
Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for consecutive games with a goal at Real Madrid, with two distinct streaks of 12: one during his 2014 era and another in 2018. These are the longest streaks recorded for Madrid players in recent years. Mbappe himself briefly reached an eight-game streak earlier this year, while Karim Benzema managed two separate runs of seven (in 2021 and 2022). On the other end of the timeline, Ronaldo dominated the older era, posting a streak of ten in 2014, two streaks of eight in 2012 and 2013, and another streak of seven in 2012.
For Mbappe to match Ronaldo’s feat of 12 consecutive goal-scoring games, he would need to score in five more straight matches. To outright surpass him, six additional games would be required. While this is a considerable stretch, Mbappe is currently the closest Real Madrid player to Ronaldo’s streak tally since the Portuguese forward departed, making it a compelling narrative to watch unfold over the coming months.
A Steady Scoring Pace in LaLiga and Europe
Mbappe has made scoring look almost routine in LaLiga. Following the victory at Mestalla, he now holds 13 goals and two assists across 12 league appearances, trailing only Barcelona’s Raphinha, who leads the division with 15 goals.
His performance in the Champions League mirrors his domestic form. Mbappe has found the net in all four of Real Madrid’s league-phase matches this season, adding one assist. Furthermore, his goal against AEK Athens marked his sixth consecutive competition goal, tying the best streak of his career, previously set during his time with PSG in 2022.
This relentless CL run has drawn Mbappe into the same elite conversation as Cristiano Ronaldo. Until recently, Ronaldo was the only Real Madrid player to have scored in six or more consecutive Champions League matches, with his own tally reaching 11. That mark looks exceptionally difficult to breach, but Mbappe’s current output and trajectory make the pursuit all the more electrifying.
With Real Madrid firmly atop the LaLiga standings and unbeaten so far in the Champions League, Mbappe has every opportunity to continue extending his goal-scoring streaks in both Spain and Europe. Each upcoming fixture offers another chance to broaden his historical footprint alongside the benchmark set by Cristiano Ronaldo.
