Mercedes Mone Shares Tribute to Deceased Sister Alexis

Mercedes Mone has announced the passing of her younger sister, Alexis Varnado, who sadly lost her life.

She shared this difficult news in the latest edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, recalling their time together at WrestleMania in Atlanta when she was younger.

“September was an incredibly hard month for me, as I lost my younger sister, Alexis.”

It remains difficult to speak of the moment. She was so young, and knowing she left behind two young children has only deepened my heartache.

One memory that lingers is the time we attended WrestleMania together in Atlanta during our youth.

Wrestling has been a significant part of my life, and I cherish that memory with my sister, one that allowed many of my dreams to take shape.

I often reflect on 2020, when she supported me during a difficult time with my mother. I remain eternally grateful for that assistance.

I wish Alexis had more time, and I wish her children could spend more time with their mother. I continue to struggle to comprehend how a young person can perish.

“Alexis, I love you.”

In a separate note, Mone also paid tribute to PAC, who passed away on September 27 at the age of 40.

“And then, while I was still grieving my sister, the loss of PAC came unexpectedly.”

As I was still grieving my sister, the loss of PAC came unexpectedly. That was incredibly hard, and it still is.

I have known PAC since FCW. We were at NXT together, and when I think about him, I do not only think of the incredible wrestler everybody watched on television.

I think about all the years and memories we shared.

We spent so much time laughing while playing UpUpDownDown with Austin Creed. We had Rocket League championships together

I remember being on the buses during different tours and listening to his stories with Sami Zayn. Having the whole bus laughing. There were so many funny moments that I wish I could go back and experience one more time.

When you have known somebody for so long, you do not realize how many small pieces of your life they are part of until they are gone.

The memorial tribute was absolutely beautiful, but the whole show was emotionally difficult for me.

I knew I needed to be part of it. I could not imagine simply staying backstage. Wrestling was something PAC and I had shared for so many years, and being in the ring felt like the way I needed to honor him.

His influence on professional wrestling is going to live on forever.

You can see what he brought to this sport in so many wrestlers today. His athleticism and the things he could do inside a ring inspired an entire generation of performers.

But for me, I will also remember the person behind all of that.

I am so grateful I got to share those memories with him.

“I miss you, PAC.”

Mone wrestled on PAC’s tribute show on September 30, teaming with Britt Baker and Persephone in a loss to Hyan, Marina Shafir and Thunder Rosa.

Mone has been building a program with Shafir on AEW programming of late. Shafir will challenge Mone for the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW Full Gear on November 14 at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Mone defeated Willow Nightingale for the title at All In on August 30. She has since made two successful defenses, defeating Queen Aminata at Grand Slam France on October 6 and Thekla at WrestleDream on October 17.
