Miyu Yamashita successfully defended her LPGA Maybank Championship title on Sunday, edging out China’s Yan Liu by a two‑stroke margin at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
The 2025 Women’s Open champion posted a total of 22 under par after a final‑round 68, securing her third tour victory of the season. It was also her fifth career title, following earlier wins at the CPKC Women’s Open and the Meijer LPGA Classic.
Yamashita’s round included five birdies and a solitary bogey on the par‑4 ninth hole. She maintained the lead from the second round through to the final hole, delivering a steady performance throughout the 72‑hole event.
“Today was an especially tough round for me,” Yamashita said. “Yan Liu hits the ball with so much power and distance. She was making birdies early and hitting aggressive shots. I felt like I couldn’t let my guard down for a single moment until the final putt dropped on the 18th.”
Liu, who also carded a 68 in the final round, finished at 18 under but could not close the gap to Yamashita. Liu’s consistent play was highlighted by her ability to keep the competition tight throughout the last round.
Pauline Roussin‑Bouchard, the first‑round leader, posted a 69 on Sunday and settled for third place, tied with amateur Marisa Tojai of Thailand (67). Australia’s Robyn Choi completed the podium chase with a 69, finishing fifth at 17 under.
