The promoter for Dina Thorslund has dismissed a proposal for British star Francesca Hennessy to challenge the undisputed bantamweight champion, labeling the pitch as “not a real offer.”
Boxxer, the promotional company representing Henentarnessy, claimed it had presented a nearly $250,000 (£183,000) offer to face the 21-year-old Danish fighter in the UK during November or December.
Although Henentarnessy holds the position of WBC’s number one challenger, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Thorslund’s management team argued the proposal was critically lacking in detail and disputed the reported figure.
“We do not typically discuss financial negotiations in the media, but there was a significant lack of detail in the ‘offer’ provided,” MVP head of matchmaking Mike Leanardi told BBC Sport. “Most importantly, there was no confirmed broadcaster, date, or venue attached.”
“We would never commit to a bout involving an undisputed champion on what is effectively just a shopping agreement.”
“It is not a legitimate offer. Should a genuine opportunity arise with a confirmed date, venue, and broadcaster, we are prepared to engage further if Dina wishes to proceed.”
Boxentarr promoter Ben Shalom had previously noted that discussions were underway for a potential matchup, which would see Henentarnessy attempt to become the youngest undisputed four-belt world champion in history.
