My Chemical Romance’s seminal album The Black Parade has reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard 200, more than two decades after its original 2006 release. The 20th‑anniversary deluxe reissue, released on October 23, topped the chart with 78,000 equivalent album units across multiple formats, marking the band’s first number‑one album in nearly 25 years.

Launched in 2006, The Black Parade transformed the emo outfit into full‑blown rock icons with a rock‑opera sound reminiscent of Queen and produced the chart‑topping hit “Welcome to the Black Parade.” The album initially debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard albums chart.

The reissue celebrates the album’s landmark status and coincides with the band’s “Long Live the Black Parade” tour, which has included high‑profile shows at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, London’s Wembley Stadium, and a celebrated performance at New York’s Citi Field attended by pop star Olivia Rodrigo. Despite occasional legal hiccups, such as a dispute with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad, the tour has reinforced My Chemical Romance’s standing as enduring rock titans.

The comeback also eclipsed Olivia Rodrigo’s recent release, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love, securing My Chemical Romance’s first UK number‑one as well.
