LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has detained 11 individuals across Punjab for engaging in activities deemed harmful to state security and public order.
According to NCCIA Punjab officials, these suspects were under prolonged monitoring for disseminating provocative online content targeting state institutions, particularly military and government entities, via digital platforms.
Raids conducted on Thursday led to arrests in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala. The individuals face charges related to spreading anti-state narratives and fomenting public instability.
Investigators are analyzing seized digital evidence and social media activity to map potential connections and ongoing operations linked to the suspects.
The detainees have been formally charged under provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca), 2016.
NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Waseem emphasized that strict legal proceedings would follow, with no discretion granted to those endangering public safety through digital channels.
Previously, the agency had detained 13 individuals in similar cases, alleging coordinated campaigns against national institutions and references to Gulf countries in their online activities.
