The cinematic realm of The Conjuring is expanding once again, this time branching out into interactive entertainment with a new narrative delivered as a mobile title on Netflix.

Titled The Conjuring: Unspoken, the experience will be available free-of-charge to all Netflix subscribers beginning October 13, utilizing the player’s smartphone as the primary interface and controller.

Rather than following the paranormal investigations of Ed and Lorraine Warren, Unspoken places players in the role of Francesca Noakes, a demonologist summoned to the historic Red Lion pub in England.

According to a promotional statement, the interactive format may intensify the horror: “The Conjuring: Unspoken might actually be scarier than the movies because you’re an active participant.” The narrative begins with the arrival of the grieving Cooper family at the centuries-old inn, where supernatural occurrences quickly escalate. Following a botched séance, players must employ their intellect and mobile device to liberate the family from the grasp of Vinea, a demon that feeds on sorrow, alongside Florrie, a specter rooted in English folklore. Netflix has asserted that the underlying events are drawn from a true account.

Gameplay involves using the smartphone to probe the environment with classic paranormal investigation equipment, including an electromagnetic field meter, an infrared camera, and a spirit box, to gather evidence and unravel the mystery. Additionally, players will make various dialogue selections during the narrative that influence the progression and outcome of the story.

Netflix has clarified that prior knowledge of the film franchise is not required to enjoy Unspoken. However, those deeply invested in the Warren saga may find added value, as several familiar characters make appearances. Understanding the broader context is expected to heighten the emotional resonance of the experience.

Unspoken represents the latest entry in Netflix’s growing portfolio of interactive games, which has included notable titles earlier this year. Celebrities such as Sadie Sink, Zoë Kravitz, and Troy Baker headlined the thriller-turned-horror Unhinged, while the platform also recently debuted an exclusive FIFA title.

The service previously adapted Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery into a party game for subscribers last year, complemented by a suite of other titles playable via television remote. Alian Tascan, who oversees Netflix Games, has expressed a desire to adapt more proprietary properties, with Bridgerton, Stranger Things, and One Piece cited as priority candidates.

Concurrently, a prequel film and a television series within The Conjuring franchise are currently in development, capitalizing on the commercial success of the most recent installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites.
